| GERALDINE FARRAR, the foremost American prima donna, star of the Metropolitan
opera and "Carmen" the Lasky film, was born in Melrose, Mass.,
in 1883. When seventeen she went to Europe to study, when nineteen made
her debut at the Royal Opera, in Berlin and when twenty-four returned to
America to sing at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. "Carmen,"
"Faust,'' "La Boheme" and "Madame Butterfly" have
been exceptionally succes sful operatic vehicles. |
